Chinese Tourist Visa Requirements

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

China is becoming a popular tourist destination-so much so, in fact, that it’s hard to believe that most foreigners were shut out of the country until 1974. Since then, though, China’s tourist industry has grown rapidly.

According to Wikipedia, in 1985 1.4 million people visited China, bringing in the equivalent of $1.3 billion. By 2006, that number had increased to 49.6 million visitors, making  China the fourth most-visited country in the world. By 2020, the World Trade Organization predicts that the country will be the “largest tourist country in the world, and the fourth largest for overseas travel.”

If you are an American citizen, a visa is required for you to visit China as a tourist.  You will need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa, called an “L” visa, before you leave, as visas are not issued on arrival in China.

Depending on what you itinerary is like and how often you plan to visit, American citizens can apply for a single -entry Chinese visa valid for 3-6 months, a double-entry visa valid for 6 months or a multiple-entry visa valid for 6 months.

Here’s what you need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa:

    • A Chinese visa application
    • Your US passport. Your passport needs to have an expiration date at least 6 months in the future, and you need at least one blank page in the back.
    • Also, submit a copy of the information page (the page with your name, date of birth, etc on it)
    • One passport photo glued or stapled to the application.

If you are leaving within the next 7 days, you should also enclose a copy of your travel itinerary so that your Chinese visa can be expedited.

RushMyTravelVisa.com can make the application process easier on you and faster, too. We’ll help you through the application process, providing clear, step-by-step instructions. Then, we’ll deliver your Chinese visa application to the appropriate visa or consulate, for the fastest possible processing.

Cameroon Visa Requirements For Dja Faunal Reserve

    Saturday, January 30th, 2010

This week’s featured UNESCO  World Heritage site is the Dja Faunal Reserve in Cameroon. The Reserve was first listed as a World Heritage site in 1987  for it’s rich biodiversity.  The UNESCO site calls it “one of the largest and best-protected rainforests in Africa, with 90% of its area left undisturbed.”

Inside the reserve, you can find various types of primates, including monkeys, lowland gorillas and chimpanzees. Elephants, leopards and wild hogs roam the forest, while two threatened species of crocodile swim in the Dja River, which provides a natural border for the southern edge of the park .

The Dja Faunal Reserve is not just home to animals, however. People live there, too.  In the forest, a small group of Pygmies lives a (mostly) traditional lifestyle.

To visit the Djal Faunal Reserse, you will need a passport and a Cameroon visa.   Visas are not issued on arrival,  so you will need to apply in advance. Here’s what you need to submit:

Brazilian Tourist Visa Requirements for Carnaval

    Thursday, January 28th, 2010

It’s almost that time of year again…in February, roughly 40 days before Easter, Brazil holds a massive party: Carnaval. In this mostly Catholic country, Carnaval is one last chance to let loose before the sacrifices of Lent.

Of course, you don’t have to be Catholic to enjoy Carnaval. In Brazil’s major cities, the event is celebrated by parades, costumes, samba dancing and partying in the streets. The types of music and parades differ from city to city, and the dates of the celebration may vary by a day or so as well. For example, Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval celebrations occur on a Monday, while Sao Paulo happen over a long weekend, from Friday to Sunday. So, make sure to do a little bit of research before you make your travel arrangements.

All US citizens traveling to Brazil must have the appropriate visa. Brazil is famous for its rather complex visa requirements, but here is what you need to get a visa to attend Carnaval as a tourist:

    • Your US passport. You need at least 6 months left before your passport expires to go to Brazil. Brazilian visas takes up two pages, so you also need at least two blank pages left in the back.
    • One Brazilian visa application
    • 2 passport-sized photos
    • A copy of your itinerary stating when you will be entering and leaving Brazil.
    • A  photocopy of your driver’s license or state-issued ID card. The copy must be clear and legible.
    • If you will be visiting friends or relatives, you also need a letter from them.

If you’ve been to any of the following countries in the past 90 days, you will also need a yellow fever vaccine: Angola, Bolivia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, French Guiana, Gabon, Ghana, Gambia, Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Peru, Sierra Leone, Sudan or Venezuela.

RushMyTravelVisa can help you research the visa requirements for your trip and can walk through the application process. We will also submit your application to the appropriate embassy or consulate, providing you with the fastest possible processing time.

    Kyrgyzstan Tourist Visa Requirements

    Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Have you ever wanted to live the life of a true nomad? According to this post on the Matador Trip Network, in Kyrgyzstan you can do just that. The Matador writers watched a golden eagle hunt (and ate the resulting bounty for dinner), swam in the lake of Issyk Kul, and dined on local specialties like roasted yak. (I wonder if yak tastes like chicken? Nah, probably more like beef or venison.)

They also got to witness a “dead goat polo” match firsthand. Yes, “dead goat polo” is exactly what it sounds like: polo played on horseback with a dead goat instead of a ball.

For the piece de resistance, the Matador team lived in a yurt near Song Kol Lake and hung out with a local family. This sounded like a really neat experience, as long as you don’t mind getting up close and personal with strangers-tourists sleep 6 to a yurt, and everyone shares the same traditional bed of animal skins.

Community Based Travel Kyrgyzstan is one of the more popular travel agencies in Kyrgyzstan, and their website indicated they can help you arrange all of the above activities and more, including horseback riding tours and caving tours.

However, you will need a US passport and a Kyrgyzstan visa for your trip. You can apply for a Kyrgyzstan visa before you leave the US or on arrival in the Bishkek airport, but it’s best to apply in advance.

    Here’s what you’ll need:

    • 1 Kyrgyzstan visa application form
    • 1 passport-sized photo of yourself
    • Your US passport, which must be valid and have at least 1 empty page in the back.

By default, tourists are issued a single entry Kyrgyzstan tourist visa.  To apply for a multiple entry visa, you must also submit a visa support letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Matador Trips points out that there are no direct flights into Kyrgyzstan. You will need to fly through Russia or Kazakhstan, so you may also need to apply for the appropriate travel visas. RushMyTravelVisa can review your itinerary, research your visa requirements and help you apply for all the necessary visas.  Contact us today!

The country of Bahrain is located on the Persian Gulf.  Its shores are fringed with sunny beaches and dotted with islands both natural and man-made. Formerly known for its pearls, Bahrain is now known for shiny new cities and tourist developments, like the Bahrain World Trade Center.

Bahrain’s beaches and its modern facilities make it a popular tourist destination-in fact, with 2 million visitors a year (per Wikipedia), it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Middle East.  Bahrain is continuing to build more tourist facilities, so that number will probably increase in the years to come.

American citizens who wish to visit Bahrain will need a passport and a Bahrain tourist visa. You can obtain a two-week tourist visa on arrival or via the Bahraini government web site, but you can also apply ahead of time at one of Bahrain’s embassies or consulates for a multiple entry visa good for 5 years. Zambia Visa Requirements to See Victoria Falls

    Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Located on the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls is claimed to be the largest waterfall in the world. The waterfall’s indigenous name, Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Mist that Thunders) gives a much better idea of its grandeur than the name given to it by English explorers. Victoria Falls is approximately 5,600 feet wide and 60 feet high.

If you are lucky enough to visit Victoria Falls at night, by the light of a full moon, you may even see a “moonbow,” a rainbow in the dark. Moonbows are caused by the light of a full moon reflecting off the spray of the falls. They are very rare, and Victoria Falls is one of the few locations on earth where they happen with any frequency.

You can visit Victoria Falls either through the Zambia side or the Zimbabwe side.  Zambia visas can be obtained in advance or on arrival, although if you are traveling that far, it’s not a bad idea to make sure that all of your paperwork is in order before you go.  Here’s what you need to get a Zambia tourist visa:

    • 2 completed Zambia visa application forms
    • 3 passport-sized photos. You must sign your name on the back of each photo you submit.
    • A copy of your round-trip itinerary or round-trip tickets.
    • If you are staying with family or friends in Zambia, you need a visitor visa. To get one of these, you will also need a letter of invitation from the person you are staying with.

RushMyTravelVisa.com can help you get the visas you need for your trip. We’ll research your itinerary to find out which visas are required for each stage of your journey, and we’ll help you apply for the necessary visas, providing you will clear, easy to understand instructions and checklists.  Then, we’ll forward your application to the appropriate embassy or consulate for the fastest possible service.

Vietnamese Visa Requirements for Business Travelers

    Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Although Vietnam is relatively poor overall, the country’s economy has been growing rapidly over the past decade.  In fact, according to Wikipedia, between 2000 and Vietnam’s GDP grew at a rate of 7%, the second-fastest growth rate in the world during that time.  Vietnam became a member of the World Trade Organization in 2007.

All of this means that Vietnam is increasingly becoming a destination for business travel, and it’s important for travelers to know what to expect.

One important element that business travelers visiting other cultures must consider is the way that business etiquette can vary from country to country.  According to this article from BuyUSA.gov:

“Vietnam is a markedly Confucian society and its business practices are often more similar to those of China, Japan and Korea than to those of its Southeast Asian neighbors. The social dynamics and world-view of Vietnam’s society are reflected in the business climate including such matters as: “face”, consensus building, and the zero-sum game assumption.”

Business travelers should also make sure they have all the appropriate travel documents. Business travelers to Vietnam need both a valid US passport and a Vietnamese business visa.  You must apply for your Vietnam visa in advance-the Vietnamese government does not issues visas on arrival.

Here’s what you’ll need to apply for your Vietnamese business visa:

    • 1 visa application form
    • 1 passport photo

    • 2 copies of the Indonesian visa application form
    • 2 passport-sized photos
    • A copy of your round-trip tickets or your itinerary
    • A business letter of responsibility from the company that you work for.
    • If you need a  multiple entry visa (ie, you will be entering and exiting Indonesia more than once) , you also need a letter of invitation from the Indonesian country you are doing business with.
    • Your US passport- Please note that you have to have at least 6 months left before the expiration date-otherwise, Indonesian immigration officials will not let you enter the country. Also, please note that you need at least one blank page left in the back of your passport so that the Indonesian visa can be attached.  If you don’t have at least one page free, you will need to add additional pages before you apply for your visa.

In addition to obtaining the appropriate  travel documents, it’s always a good idea to study the business customs and etiquette of a country if you haven’t been there before.  This article, from the Indonesian American Chamber of Commerce, is an excellent resource.

One of the main features is the Palace of the Shirvanshahs,  an intricate stone palace build in the 15th  century.  Another landmark is the Maiden Tower, a round stone tower that dates back to the 12 century, possibly earlier. Once a watchtower, it has been turned into a museum.

The site was made into a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
