Get a Vietnam Visa to Visit Magical Ha Long Bay

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

One of Vietnam’s most exquisite natural treasures, Ha Long Bay is located along the coast in Quảng Ninh province.  Local legend has it that the bay was created by a family of friendly dragons, send by the gods to help the Vietnamese defend their land against the Chinese.  Over 3,000 islands and islets rise out of the crystal blue waters, covered with jungle and surreal rock formations. Many of the islands have caves to explore, and some even have lakes. Is it any wonder that Ha Long Bay was nominated to be one of the World’s 7 Natural Wonders in 2009?

However, conservation-minded tourists should be careful that they don’t inadvertently cause harm to this special place. Environmental Graffiti has an excellent first-hand account of a visit to Ha Long Bay that includes this caution:

“Unfortunately there are often downsides to tourist success and this magnificent site is no exception. The bay is under threat as many people have removed rare coral and seashells from the seabed and also taken stalactites and stalagmites from the caves. These are often taken and made into trinkets such as key rings to be sold to visiting tourists, so be wary and try not to buy.”

To visit Ha Long Bay, you need a valid passport and a Vietnamese visa. You need to plan ahead and have your visa in hand before you leave the US, as Vietnamese visas are not available on arrival.  See Vietnamese Visa Requirements for Tourists for more details on what you need to do to get your visa.

Vietnam Visa Requirements to Visit Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

This week’s featured UNESCO World Heritage Site is  in Vietnam, 500 kilometers south of Hanoi. Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is located on the site of one of the world’s largest karst systems. Karst is a type of terrain that is distinguished by limestone rock formations and caves. Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park  contains 65-70 kilometers worth of caves and underwater rivers.

Of the 300 caves and grottoes located in the park, only 20 have been studied and mapped.  The most spectacular of these caves is Phong Nha Cave, which is 7729 meters long.  Although tourists are only allowed to see the first 1,500 meters of the cave,  it is a popular destination due to its numerous grottoes and 13,969 meter-long underground river.

Phong Na cave is also filled with fascinating rock formations that have been given fanciful names like the Lion, the Fairy Caves, the Royal Court and the Buddha.

The park also boasts the world’s largest cave, called Son Doong Cave.

Above ground, the park is covered with evergreen forests. It is home to rare orchids and many different species of animals, including monkeys, deer, guar (a type of wild cow), bears, antelopes and the pangolin, or scaly antelope.

To get to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, you need both a valid passport and  a visa. Vietnam visa regulations do not allow visas to be issued on arrival, so you will need to apply in advance.

Here are the required documents for US tourists applying for a Vietnamese visa:

  • Your US passport
  • A completed Vietnamese visa application
  • A recent passport photo, taken within the past 6 months.

Also, if you need a multiple-entry visa, make sure you specify that when you apply-otherwise, the default is a single-entry visa.

It can be somewhat confusing and intimidating to negotiate the visa system of an unfamiliar country-that’s why RushMyTravelVisa.com is here to help. We’ll walk you through the application process and deliver your application to the appropriate visa or consulate for the fastest service possible.

Vietnam Visa Requirements For Tourists

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Tourism is a growing industry in Vietnam.  According to Wikipedia, the tourism industry in Vietnam grew 63 percent between the years of 1999 and 2004. About 8 or 9 percent of the foreign tourists who visited Vietnam in 2004 were from the US.

This year, in 2010, the government of Vietnam is celebrating a National Year of Tourism, so it’s a particularly exciting time to visit.

However, American citizens visiting Vietnam must have Vietnamese visas.  To get a Vietnamese tourist visa,  you need the following documents:

  • Your US passport
  • A completed Vietnamese visa application
  • A recent passport photo, taken within the past 6 months.

Also, you must apply ahead of time to get a Vietnamese visa. Some countries will issue tourist visas to travelers when they arrive at the airport, but Vietnam is not one of these. In fact, if you show up without a visa, you can expect to be immediately deported.

A few other things you should know about Vietnam visas for tourists:

Vietnam tourist visas are typically single-entry.  If your itinerary requires you to enter and exit Vietnam more than once, you must specify that you need a multiple-entry visa when you apply.

Also, if you plan to continue from Vietnam into Laos, make sure you get the type of Vietnamese visa that is adhered to the passport.  If your visa is detachable, the Vietnamese border officials will take it off when you leave Vietnam; however, Laos border officials require that you have a Vietnamese visa in your passport to enter Laos from Vietnam.

RushMyTravelVisa.com can help you obtain the necessary visas for your next trip to Asia.  We’ll examine your itinerary and so some research to determine which visas you need and what you need to do to obtain them.

Vietnamese Visa Requirements for Business Travelers

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Although Vietnam is relatively poor overall, the country’s economy has been growing rapidly over the past decade.  In fact, according to Wikipedia, between 2000 and Vietnam’s GDP grew at a rate of 7%, the second-fastest growth rate in the world during that time.  Vietnam became a member of the World Trade Organization in 2007.

All of this means that Vietnam is increasingly becoming a destination for business travel, and it’s important for travelers to know what to expect.

One important element that business travelers visiting other cultures must consider is the way that business etiquette can vary from country to country.  According to this article from BuyUSA.gov:

“Vietnam is a markedly Confucian society and its business practices are often more similar to those of China, Japan and Korea than to those of its Southeast Asian neighbors. The social dynamics and world-view of Vietnam’s society are reflected in the business climate including such matters as: “face”, consensus building, and the zero-sum game assumption.”

Business travelers should also make sure they have all the appropriate travel documents. Business travelers to Vietnam need both a valid US passport and a Vietnamese business visa.  You must apply for your Vietnam visa in advance-the Vietnamese government does not issues visas on arrival.

Here’s what you’ll need to apply for your Vietnamese business visa:

  • 1 visa application form
  • 1 passport photo
