This week’s featured UNESCO World Heritage Site is tucked away in the southeastern corner of Venezuela, near the borders with Brazil and Guyana. Canaima National Park is vast expanse of rugged wilderness so remote and unusual that it inspired the setting of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel The Lost World.

Here’s how UNESCO describes the park:

Canaima National Park is spread over 3 million ha in south-eastern Venezuela along the border between Guyana and Brazil. Roughly 65% of the park is covered by table mountain (tepui) formations. The tepuis constitute a unique biogeological entity and are of great geological interest. The sheer cliffs and waterfalls, including the world’s highest (1,000 m), form a spectacular landscape.

The unusual and unique tepuis really make Canaima National Park stand out. You can climb to the top of some of the tepuis, including Auyantepu, the formation from which Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world, plunges 3,212 feet. That’s almost a mile!

If you’d like to see Angel Falls, it’s best to visit Canaima National Park from June to December, when the water is deep enough to allow travel by boat. More likely than not, your guide will be a member of the native Pemon tribe who inhabit the park.

To visit Canaima National Park, you need a US passport valid for at least 6 months after you plan to enter Venezuela, as well as a Venezuelan visa or tourist card. You can get a tourist card on the plane if you are arriving by air and plan to stay for less than 90 days. However, backpackers and others entering Venezuela by land do need to arrange for a Venezuelan visa in advance.

If you are planning to take a business trip to Venezuela, one of the first items on your to-do list should be applying for the appropriate travel documents. An American citizen traveling to Venezuela on business is required to carry a US passport, of course, but will also need a Venezuelan business visa.

Unlike tourists, who can apply for a Venezuelan tourist card on arrival, business travelers must apply for a visa in advance. Here’s what you will need:

Your US passport, which must have at least 6 months of validity remaining before it expires. This is important-Venezuela has refused entry to Americans with passports due to expire in less than 6 months. Also, make sure your passport is in good condition-if it is worn or damaged, you should get it replaced to make sure that you aren’t turned away when you try to enter Venezuela.

1 completed Venezuela visa application form

2 passport-sized photos of yourself

A photocopy of your round-trip itinerary

A business letter of responsibility from the company in America that is sending you to Venezuela.

The letter from your company must state your position in the company, the purpose of your visit to Venezuela, the name and address of your Venezuelan contact and how long you plan to remain the country. In the letter, your company must also promise to take financial responsibility for you while you are in Venezuela.

Also, if you own your own business, you will be required to show proof of ownership to get your business visa. Venezuelan business visas cost $60 and are good for 1 year for stays of up to 180 days at a time.

No matter where you’re going, RushMyTravelVisa can make applying for the appropriate visas fast and painless. We review your itinerary and research the visa requirements for each country you enter, to make sure you are never caught off guard. Then, we help you fill out the application s and gather the necessary documents and submit your paperwork to the appropriate embassy or consulate for the fastest processing available.

According to the US Department of State, approximately 12,000 US tourists visit Venezuela each year. Although relations between the two countries are somewhat tense, Americans are still drawn to Venezuela’s beaches, rainforests and cities.

To travel to Venezuela, American citizens need a US passport that has at least 6 months left before it expires, and a Venezuelan visa or tourist card. Tourists traveling to Venezuela by air and staying less than 90 days can obtain a tourist card upon arrival .

However, if you are traveling to Venezuela by private transportation or entering the country via a land border crossing, you need to get a Venezuelan visa ahead of time. Here are the requirements for Venezuelan tourist visa:

1 Venezuelan visa application form

2 passport-sized photos

A copy of your plane tickets or an itinerary showing when and where you plan to enter and exit the country.

A letter from your employer. The letter must state how long you have been employed with the company, your position and your salary.

If you are unemployed, you can submit a bank statement instead.

A reference letter from your bank-ask for a visa letter and they should be able to prepare something suitable.

At RushMyTravelVisa.com, we can help you apply for the visas you need for your next trip out of the country. We can review your itinerary and research the requirements for each country you plan to visit, ensuring that you have the documents you need before you leave the US.

Then, we help you through the application process, cutting through the red tape to provide you with easy-to-understand instructions and a helpful checklist. Finally, we forward your visa application to the appropriate embassy or consulate to ensure that you get the fastest possible processing.
