Nobody ever said applying for a visa was easy. All it takes is one little mistake to cause a delay in processing your travel visa application. Here are the top 5 most common mistakes people make when applying for travel visas-make sure they don’t happen to you!

Not filling out the visa application completely: Sometimes, applicants don’t fill out certain fields in the application, usually because they don’t think a question applies to them. When you fill out an application for a travel visa, don’t leave anything blank. If a question doesn’t seem applicable, at least try to explain why it isn’t applicable to your situation.

Forgetting your “John Hancock:” Believe it or not, another common mistake made when applying for a visa is simply forgetting to sign the visa application.

Not having an original signature on all copies of the visa application: Many countries require multiple copies of the same form when you apply for travel visas. Filling out the same form and over an over again can be tedious. It’s fine if the rest of the application is photocopied, but your original signature needs to be on all copies of the visa application. Don’t forget to sign each one by hand!

Not sending in your passport with the visa application: Travel visas go on the inside of your passport. You have to send your passport in when you apply, otherwise the embassy or consulate that’s processing your application can’t issue the visa.

Not reading the application directions thoroughly: The visa application process can be complicated. It’s all to easy to skim through the instructions and forget to do something important. Read all the directions slowly, preferably more than once, to avoid having to resubmit.

To help our customers minimize the potential for errors, at RushMyTravelVisa we send out a detailed checklist that describes everything you need to do to apply for the specific type of visa you need for your trip.
