From May 1st to October 31st, 2010, China is hosting the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, taking part in a tradition that goes all the way back to 1851, when the first World’s Fair was held in London, England. This year’s World Expo is expected to be the biggest yet, as organizers prepare to welcome approximately 70 million visitors.

This year’s theme is “Better City, Better Life” and representatives from at least 231 countries and international organizations will show off innovative urban design and planning techniques, as well as environmentally-friendly technologies.

About 5 percent of the visitors to the Expo are expected to come from outside China. According to AllHeadlineNews.com, China has instructed embassies and consulates to use an “easy process” for approving Chinese visas for foreign visitors while the expo is going on.

You do still need to apply for your visa in advance, however. If you try to enter China without a visa, the airline probably won’t let you on the plane. Even if they do let you on the plane, China will send you right back to the US at your own expense. There is no way to apply for a visa upon arrival.

Chinese tourists need a tourism visa, also referred to as a “L” visa. Here are the documents you need to get a Chinese L visa:

A completed Chinese visa application

Your US passport

One passport photo

If your plane leaves in the seven days, you should also include a copy of your travel itinerary to expedite your visa.

RushMyTravelVisa.com can make applying for a Chinese visa much easier. We review your travel plans to make sure that you have the appropriate visas for every country you’ll be stopping in. Then, we help you collect all of the necessary documents, providing clear instructions and a helpful checklist, reducing the likelihood of common mistakes that could delay issuance of your visa. Finally, we deliver your application to the appropriate embassy or consulate for the fastest processing possible.

China is becoming a popular tourist destination-so much so, in fact, that it’s hard to believe that most foreigners were shut out of the country until 1974. Since then, though, China’s tourist industry has grown rapidly.

According to Wikipedia, in 1985 1.4 million people visited China, bringing in the equivalent of $1.3 billion. By 2006, that number had increased to 49.6 million visitors, making China the fourth most-visited country in the world. By 2020, the World Trade Organization predicts that the country will be the “largest tourist country in the world, and the fourth largest for overseas travel.”

If you are an American citizen, a visa is required for you to visit China as a tourist. You will need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa, called an “L” visa, before you leave, as visas are not issued on arrival in China.

Depending on what you itinerary is like and how often you plan to visit, American citizens can apply for a single -entry Chinese visa valid for 3-6 months, a double-entry visa valid for 6 months or a multiple-entry visa valid for 6 months.

Here’s what you need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa:

A Chinese visa application

Your US passport. Your passport needs to have an expiration date at least 6 months in the future, and you need at least one blank page in the back.

Also, submit a copy of the information page (the page with your name, date of birth, etc on it)

One passport photo glued or stapled to the application.

If you are leaving within the next 7 days, you should also enclose a copy of your travel itinerary so that your Chinese visa can be expedited.

RushMyTravelVisa.com can make the application process easier on you and faster, too. We’ll help you through the application process, providing clear, step-by-step instructions. Then, we’ll deliver your Chinese visa application to the appropriate visa or consulate, for the fastest possible processing.

Dating back to at least 3,000 years ago, the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of China's most ancient celebrations. Here's what you need to get a Chinese visa and go!

Dating back to at least 3,000 years ago, the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of China’s most ancient celebrations. The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival to celebrate the fall equinox.

Traditionally, the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated by visiting family members, drinking wine, eating sweet, round, fruit-flavored cakes called mooncakes, and playing under the light of the full moon.

According to Chinavoc.com, there are also special local activities, depending on what part of China you are in. For example, in Guangzhou, a spectacular lantern display lights up the night. In Zhejiang Province, people gather to watch the mighty Qian-tang River at high tide, since the high tide that occurs during the Mid-Autumn Festival is the fiercest high tide of the year.

This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls on October 3rd. If you’d like to go, you’ll need a Chinese tourist visa (an L Visa). To get one, you must submit an application, your passport and a passport photo. You’ll also need a travel itinerary if you are leaving in the next 7 days.

At RushMyTravelVisa.com, we can help you put together all of the necessary paperwork to expedite your Chinese visa. You’ll work with a trained visa specialist and get a detailed checklist of everything that needs to be done in order for your application to be processed.
